The Omaha Guns 'N Hoses boxing event will honor America's first responders on this 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on Saturday, Sept. 11th, 7pm, at Ralston Arena. The event is put on by the Omaha Police Officer's Association (OPOA) and the Omaha Professional Firefighter's Association (IAFF Local 385).
While many of the boxers work side-by-side on a daily basis, the Omaha Guns 'N Hoses event offers them this once a year rivalry to raise money for local charities. The firefighters and police officers are amateur boxers that begin training early in the year for the event. Bragging rights are on the line in this friendly yet, competitive boxing event, and I am honored to serve as one of the emcees.
