MEET DAVID BROOKS SR.CIS®, CHRS®

As the founder and president of Retire SMART, David Brooks Sr. is an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) who is focused on helping clients work toward their retirement dreams through a well-thought-out strategy for retirement income.

David got his start in the industry in 1999 and has worked for several financial services firms. He truly enjoys helping retirees and pre-retirees develop retirement income plans that meet their needs, and his business philosophy is a simple one: Do the right thing for the right reason at the right time.

David has passed the Series 63, 65 and 66 securities exams and holds life and health insurance licenses in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Carolina. He has earned the Certified Income Specialist® (CIS®) and Certified Healthcare Reform Specialist® (CHRS®) designations. David has been published or quoted in The Wall Street Journal and Forbes. He also hosts “Retire SMART with David Brooks” weekly on Omaha’s 1420 AM/FM 94.5 The Answer.

David and his wife, Melissa, have been married for more than 25 years. They have two sons, Drew and Noah, plus Nixon, a Lab who keeps their household active. David has coached youth athletics for several seasons and has volunteered for local charities. He has served on the board of directors for The Children’s Hunger Project, the American Red Cross and the March of Dimes.

In his free time, David enjoys serving in his church’s production ministry in addition to golfing and traveling.
