Patagonia Hides Political Message Under Tags

Outdoor clothing retailer Patagonia hid a message for voters in its new Regenerative Organic Stand-Up Shorts for men and women. The underside of the tag in the shorts reads, "Vote the a--holes out."

The company says it's not a partisan message aimed at any particular politician or party, with rep Tessa Byers telling NBC News, "It refers to politicians from any party who deny or disregard the climate crisis and ignore science . . . because their pockets are lined with money from oil and gas interests." Byers also noted that Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard has used the phrase for years. In 2017, Chouinard also called the Trump administration "evil."

Patagonia's website currently is calling for its shoppers to vote against climate change deniers in Senate races.
