An 18-year-old Las Vegas man who was determined to join the Army lost 113 pounds over seven months in order to meet the weight requirement.
Luis Enrique Pinto Jr. went from 317 pounds to 204 pounds, just one pound below the weight maximum for his 6-foot-1 height.
His recruiter, Staff Sergeant Philip Long, said, "He lost the equivalent of a human in seven months." Pinto lost the weight the old-fashioned way, by eating healthier and hitting the gym, doing cardio and high-intensity interval training.
Pinto is set to report to basic training in September, and has a further goal weight that he wants to reach of 190 pounds.
