Survey: More Than Half of Americans Can't Name a Single Supreme Court Justice
Washington is gearing up for a partisan fight over confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, but a new survey finds that more than half of Americans aren't able to name any of the eight other justices he'd be joining on the nation's highest court.
In the C-SPAN/PBS survey, 52 percent of Americans couldn't name a single Supreme Court justice, and that's actually better than last year, when is was 57 percent who couldn't. The justice most likely to be identified was Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, known by 25 percent of survey respondents.
Democrats were slightly more likely than Republicans to be able to name a member of the high court (really?), and older people were also more likely to be able to.
For the record, the eight justices currently on the court after the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy are: Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Ginsburg, Samuel Alito, Stephen Breyer, Neil Gorsuch, Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Clarence Thomas.
