Hal Daub was Mayor of Omaha twenty years ago on October 25, 1997 when a large swath of eastern and south central Nebraska was hammered by ice followed by a foot or more of snow. Trees still full of leaves collapsed, taking down power lines and knocking out power to 300,000 in the state for up to two weeks.
