BASKIN-ROBBINS IN KANSAS POSTS ‘TIGER KING’ JOKE ON SIGN, SEES SALES DOUBLE
This is one clever way to draw in customers. The operator of a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop in Kansas decided to put “No relation to Carole Baskin” on the sign outside of her store, and she’s being rewarded with increased sales.
Peggy Heldstab told TMZ it was her son’s idea to post the “Tiger King” joke outside the restaurant in Junction City on Sunday. She added that she hadn’t seen the wildly popular docu-series that made Carole Baskin a household name.
(In case you need some context, Carole Baskin runs the Big Cat Rescue wildlife sanctuary in Florida, and throughout the course of the docu-series she is repeatedly accused of having murdered her late husband and feeding his remains to the tigers in her refuge.)
The locals in Kansas seem to appreciate the joke—the Junction City Police Department thanked the shop on Twitter, writing, “Hey all you cool Kats and Kittens! Check out our local BR keeping it light and giving us a laugh!!”
