In a recent interview on The Joe Pags Show, journalist and Newsmax host Bianca De La Garza discussed her latest book, Incoming: On the Front Lines of the Left’s War on Truth, which has already shot to number two in book rankings. De La Garza’s book takes a critical look at the media landscape and exposes what she describes as the left’s coordinated attempt to reshape public narratives.
De La Garza and Pags began by reminiscing about their journalism roots and discussing the stark contrast between old-school journalism and today’s media landscape. Reflecting on changes in the industry, De La Garza remarked on how traditional journalism has, in her view, been eroded by a shift in values and a growing dependence on spoon-fed narratives: “The generation that came up after us… they were okay getting spoonfed press releases… why should we do all that work?” This shift, she argued, has ultimately led to an abandonment of what she sees as journalism’s civic duty.
The conversation turned to De La Garza’s firsthand observations of the current political climate. According to her, a major theme of the book is the media’s role in suppressing critical perspectives and amplifying partisan ones. She cited her experience at Newsmax as a contrast, noting, “Thank God I work at Newsmax… we actually put out the facts.”
Pags then asked about what she believes has been the impact of alternative media, such as social platforms, on public perception. De La Garza noted that Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter (now X) has played a significant role in making uncensored viewpoints more accessible, allowing Americans to see what’s happening without a filter. In discussing her optimism for the future of journalism, she expressed hope for a revival of journalistic integrity, driven by independent voices.
