We received a sad phone call last Friday morning giving us the news that Don Cole had died. For me, the memories came flooding back, memories of kind, funny and gracious man; memories of a velvet-voiced radio pro of my parents' generation who had done one KFAB stint in the 60's, left for KLZ in Denver for 10 years or so, and now was back, just as I was starting here in December of 1976. With Walt Kavanagh on news and Kent Pavelka on sports, Don presided over the most successful morning show, measured by audience share, in America. Kent joined me on the air for a few minutes to remember.
