Three Iowa Cemeteries On List Of Country's Scariest

(Iowa City, IA) -- An Iowa City cemetery is among the scariest in the US.

That's according to insurance company Choice Mutual, which ranked the 150 scariest cemeteries in the country. The scariest in the Hawkeye State is Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City, which came in at 106th on the national list. Also making the cut was Fairview in Council Bluffs and Linwood in Dubuque.

#106 Oakland Cemetery

1000 Brown St, Iowa City, IA | IowaHauntedHouses.com says this cemetery is haunted by its Black Angel statue and a young girl set on a pedestal. Strange lights have been reported here and the Angel has been seen walking around as a glowing shape. ]

#136 Fairview Cemetery

308 Lafayette Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA | Originally called the “Old Burying Grounds” because many Indians are buried here along with about 300 Mormons.

#140 Linwood Cemetery

2736 Windsor Avenue Dubuque, IA | According to IowaHauntedHouses.com, this cemetery is believed to be haunted by a Czech girl named Tillie. She is said to linger the grounds at night, carrying a lit candle. It has also been reported that she might try to pull visitors into a mausoleum.
