The Mayor's Office says the City of Omaha will celebrate local hero Terence “Bud” Crawford after his history-making boxing victory Saturday night in Vegas.

Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr., called Crawford a hometown hero and says the city plans to give him a hero’s celebration.

Details are still being worked out and will be announced as soon as they are ready.

In beating Canelo Alvarez, as Omaha and the state of Nebraska cheered him on, Crawford became the first male fighter to be the undisputed champion in three weight classes in the four-belt era.

He is still undefeated.

The fight drew a record stadium crowd and was streamed to a global audience of millions on Netflix.
