One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Council Bluffs.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) says an Iowa State Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle on I-29 on Thursday night. During the stop, DCI says 48-year-old Michael Broyles of Missouri pulled a gun and fled.

After a chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies, Broyles got out of the car with a gun and fired at officers. He was hit by returning fire, and later died at a hospital.

No officers were injured.
