Busy Summer For Nebraska State Patrol

The Nebraska State Patrol says its troopers stopped over 1,800 drivers for speeding during a July national effort focused on roadway safety.

The "Speeding Catches Up With You" campaign ran from July 14th through July 31st.

During that time, troopers made 1,806 traffic stops for speeding, including 62 for drivers rolling at over 100 miles per hour.

Troopers also arrested 65 people for driving impaired, while also issuing 91 citations for driving under suspension, 50 for open alcohol container, 31 for minor in possession of alcohol, 44 for seat belt violations, and 18 improper child restraint citations.

Troopers also performed 620 motorist assists and responded to 86 crashes.
