Omaha Police issue a statement as immigration-related protests will be around the College World Series that starts Friday.
"As the Men’s College World Series brings thousands of visitors to downtown Omaha, the safety of our citizens, those visiting, and those expressing themselves remains our top priority.
We are aware of the possibility of immigration-related demonstrations and want to assure the public that the Omaha Police Department will closely monitor any such activities and respond as necessary to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Our goal is to support the free expression of speech while also ensuring the safe enjoyment of the sporting event itself. Both can and should occur peacefully and without disruption to public safety.
As with every year, there will be a strong and visible law enforcement presence in and around the stadium. This enhanced deployment is part of our standard operations and reflects our commitment to ensuring that the Men’s College World Series remains a safe and enjoyable experience for all — residents, visitors, and participants alike.
We appreciate the cooperation of the public and look forward to another successful and secure series."
