Creighton U. Breaks Ground On Baseball Practice Field

Creighton University has broken ground on a new baseball practice field as work continues on a new softball competition field.

The baseball diamond at Florence Blvd and Cuming Street is to be completed a year from now and will also serve as a main practice field for College World Series teams.

The 193,000-square-foot field’s design is similar to the dimensions of Charles Schwab Field Omaha a few blocks east, the home of the MCWS.

The softball field at 20th and Cuming will be completed this Fall.

The new fields will be funded by a combination of public and private support.

The State of Nebraska’s Shovel-Ready Fund granted $30 million to support the CL and Rachel Werner Center for Health Sciences Education and the baseball and softball complex.

College World Series of Omaha, Inc. contributed an additional $2 million toward the baseball practice field.
