Damage assessment and clean-up begin after a complex of powerful supercell storms hits areas of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa Thursday evening.
The storms packed tornadoes, hail, and wind and caused damage in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, including the Omaha Metro.
One tornado confirmed by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office hit in northern Douglas County from 72nd to 78th Streets, Omaha Trace to Dutch Hall Road.
Downed power lines and scattered debris are reported, and law enforcement has closed off roads in that area.
Heavy hail damage reported in Fremont.
OPPD reports most of the power outages are in Washington County, with others in Douglas and Dodge Counties.
MidAmerican Energy crews are at work restoring power in Council Bluffs.
