With measles cases on the rise in other parts of the country, Governor Jim Pillen says Nebraska is making preparations just in case, with an emphasis on vaccinations.

Pillen and Nebraska health experts stress the vaccine is safe and has been for years.

Citizens looking for a vaccine or wanting to check on their immunization status should talk to their health care provider or local health department.

State Epidemiologist Dr. Sydney Stein says if a case showed up, they would work with local health departments to release information on exposure locations and times.

They are also working with local governments for an increase in vaccination efforts in their jurisdictions if needed.

There are no confirmed cases in Nebraska.
