Motorcycle Community Supports Fellow Biker Injured In Crash

Family and friends gathered outside Nebraska Medicine Sunday in a show of solidarity for a motorcyclist involved in a collision Saturday night in Council Bluffs.

Patti Ehler suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash that police say involved a truck turning in front of her at South 24th St. and Veterans' Memorial Highway causing the collision.

Ehler’s family also met the man who they say came to her aid.

They thanked a former Carter Lake firefighter who applied a tourniquet to Ehler's leg.

“I’m a former volunteer firefighter, quick reacted, took my belt and tied off her leg," Zach Skou told 6 News.

We had no hesitation; my buddy Andy and I ran out of the car to help her."

“Thank you man for being there," Ehler’s fiance Bob Pecha said to Skou.

Pecha embraced Skou after learning her condition is looking better Sunday.

“She went from the worst; now she’s better, but that’s all I know; she’s still fighting for her life right now,” Pecha said.
