Crowning Glory For Two Omaha Sisters

OMAHA, Nebraska -History was made on Sunday, December 12th when 26 year old Megan Swanson of Omaha was crowned Miss Nebraska USA at the Rose Theater. Swanson was the first person to win both the Miss Nebraska (2014) and Miss Nebraska USA title.

Megan isn't the only one in the family wearing the crown. Her sister, 26 year old Allie Swanson was crowned Miss Nebraska 2019 in June.

This is the first time sisters held both titles of Miss Nebraska and Miss Nebraska USA at the same time.

According to a news release, the Swanson sisters don’t fit the typical pageant stereotypes. At 6’ and 6.2’ both sisters grew up playing music and sports and decided on a whim to try out for Miss Nebraska as their first competitions when they were both in college.

Megan won Miss Nebraska 2014 on her first try into the pageant world and Allie followed in her big sister's footsteps won the same title in 2019. To keep the tradition going Megan was crowned Miss America USA on Sunday.

“As the first sisters to both win Miss Nebraska, we already felt like we’d won the lottery,” said Megan Swanson.

Megan has a bachelor's degree in commercial voice with a minor in music business from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. She founded The Powerhouse Project that equips women globally in the discovery of their identity, the navigation of their purpose, and the path of how to walk out their destiny through teaching the practices of a positive self-image, powerful communication skills, as well as sales and business training.

Allie is a graduate of Evangel University in Springfield, MO with a bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Bellevue University while she fulfills her duties as Miss Nebraska helping Nebraskans become better educated about social media through her social impact initiative CyberSmartz.
