Man Shot During Scuffle With Security Guard At Lincoln Restaurant

A Lincoln man suffered a gunshot wound during a scuffle with security at a Capital City restaurant.

Lincoln Police say shortly after 2:00 Sunday morning, officers responded to a large disturbance at La Cabana Restaurant at 32nd and Cornhusker Hwy.

A 41 year old security guard told officers that an argument ensued and two patrons pulled out knives. The security guard reported that 27 year old Carlos Sanchez was approaching him and making slashing motions with the knife. The guard said he wrestled the knife away from Sanchez and placed him in a chokehold as Sanchez continued to punch him.

A 25 year old security guard reported he was also trying to break up the altercation when he was attacked by three men. The guard reported he went down and the men continued to attack him before he fired multiple warning shots from his gun. The attack reportedly continued, so the security shot one of the attackers, a 32-year-old man, in the shoulder. Both the security guard and the man he shot were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sanchez was arrested for Terroristic Threats and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony. The investigation is ongoing.
