Man Dead After Police Pursuit In Omaha

A man suspected in a robbery died following a high speed pursuit in Omaha Thursday evening.  Police say around 6:40 p.m. officers tried to stop a car near 52nd and State Street.  The vehicle was believed to have been used in the robbery.

The driver took off and a pursuit began, at times reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour.  In the area of 3700 Cook Plaza the driver got out of the car and ran.   

During the foot pursuit a gun was fired.  The man who was fleeing from officers was found dead.  Police say they do not believe any officers fired their weapons.  The Officer Involved Investigation Team along with the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating the incident.
