Trump's party currently holds a slim majority in the House, making the elections crucial for maintaining Republican influence in Congress.

The president has been impeached twice before, once in 2019 for alleged abuse of power and again in 2021 for inciting an insurrection. He was acquitted by the Senate on both occasions. As the midterms approach, the potential for another impeachment looms if Democrats gain control of Congress.
