Gun Amnesty Isn't Always the End for a Gun

Tomorrow (Saturday) Omaha Police and other agencies will have a gun, fireworks, and ammunition amnesty day at three area locations.  OPD bomb squad commander Sgt. Matt Manhart says all fireworks, guns, and ammunition will be collected with no questions asked.  But all guns will be checked to see if they have been reported as stolen or if they can determine if they were used in a crime. Stolen guns will be returned to owners, the rest will be destroyed.  Here are the three area locations for drop off tomorrow from 9-2:

» Omaha Fire Station #43, 5505 N. 103rd St.

» Seymour Smith Park, 72nd and Harrison Streets

» Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, 1400 Big Lake Road, Council Bluffs in the west parking lot
