Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen on Monday was joined by agency leaders and lawmakers, as he signed an executive order to end taxpayer subsidies of large-scale data centers in Nebraska.
That order suspends the award of tax incentives by the state and stipulates the creation of a task force to propose additional safeguards of Nebraska’s natural resources in data center use.
This executive order comes on the heels of legislation brought on the Governor's behalf and signed into law preventing data centers from depending on power built and funded by Nebraska ratepayers
