The Salvation Army Western Division has sent a disaster-relief team from its west Omaha headquarters to Auburn, Nebraska after Monday’s severe weather caused heavy damage and power outages.

The effort will include a canteen with food and beverages.

Plans call for the team to go street-to-street, distributing snacks, bottled water, and Gatorade to storm-impacted families, first responders, and recovery crews.

A Lincoln-based Salvation Army disaster-relief team is on standby, ready to move into Auburn.

The Salvation Army Western Division has been in regular contact with authorities in Nemaha and other storm-impacted counties in southeast Nebraska and is ready to continue the mobile food operation for as long as it is needed.
