Temporary Overnight I-480 Closures Planned For Streetcar Work

Starting Monday, May 4th, nightly lane closures will take place on I-480 near downtown Omaha to allow construction of the false decking for the Farnam St. bridge.

This work is to prepare the bridge for concrete decking.

The closures will begin on the southbound side and work west to east, and work is expected to take up to five nights, weather permitting.

Lane restrictions will be placed on I-480 between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night.

All lanes of traffic will be open by 6:00 a.m. each day.

The work will progress from the west (southbound lanes) to the east (northbound lanes).

At least one lane of I-480 will be open while work is occurring.

Southbound and northbound I-480 could have lane restrictions on the same nights, but southbound work would conclude before northbound lane restrictions are placed.

While work is being done in the two right southbound lanes of I-480 on Monday, the on-ramp to I-480 southbound at 30th Street will also be closed to traffic.
