During its meeting next Friday, The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will consider the proposal for the renovation and reconfiguration of Nebraska Memorial Stadium.
The university says "The Big Red Rebuild" project would provide updates to the stadium to improve fan experience, enhance ADA accessibility, and address deferred maintenance.
In a news release, Nebraska Athletics says the project will be funded by leveraging a strategic mix of at least $250 million in philanthropic support and $350 million in private bond financing.
No reliance on tax dollars.
Subject to approval, full construction is set to begin following this football season, with the project reaching approximately 50 percent completion for the 2027 season. The full completion is to be in time for the 2028 season
Memorial Stadium opened in 1923.
Nebraska will enter the 2026 season with 410 consecutive home sellouts dating back to 1962, the beginning of the "Bob Devaney-Tom Osborne" coaching era.
The Regents will meet Friday April 24th, in the board room at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St., in Lincoln.
