Omaha Police say it was two veteran officers of the Uniform Patrol Bureau who fired their service weapons in the Tuesday morning confrontation with a knife-wielding kidnapping suspect outside the Walmart at 72nd and Pine Streets.

The officers, both with 22 years of service, are Brian Seaton and Roger Oseka.

The Omaha Police Department’s Officer-Involved Investigations Team continues to investigate the incident that left the suspect, 31-year-old Noemi Guzman, dead and a 3-year-old child injured.

The child is recovering after being treated at a hospital.

The Douglas County Attorney’s Office has been advised of this investigation, and, under Nebraska law, this case will be presented to a grand jury once the investigation is complete.

The law requires a grand jury to be summoned when a person dies while in the custody of, or while being apprehended by, law enforcement.
