In a Wednesday news release, the American Red Cross updated it's response to the Nebraska wildfires.
The organization says it continues to support communities affected by the wildfires across Nebraska, with trained volunteers providing assistance and coordinating closely with local officials as the situation evolves.
Since late last week, Red Cross teams have been on the ground helping in the impacted communities.
Dozens of trained Red Cross volunteers are currently engaged in the response, offering support, resources and expertise.
Red Cross health services volunteers are supporting health needs of those impacted by the wildfires, while mental health volunteers are visiting with area residents.
As conditions allow, Red Cross volunteers will conduct residential damage assessments to help determine what support families may need.
The Red Cross shelter at the Brady Community Center has closed, as lodging needs are being met through other means.
Red Cross volunteers remain on standby and are prepared to provide shelter should new needs arise.
The Red Cross continues to communicate closely with emergency officials to monitor needs and adapt its response. With wildfire conditions changing rapidly, the organization remains ready to expand assistance as necessary.
Residents affected by the wildfires can call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for help. The free Red Cross Emergency App also provides weather alerts, shelter information, and safety guidance.
