Nebraska men's basketball coach Fred Hoiberg is the Big Ten Coach of the Year in a vote of his fellow conference coaches after he led NU to a breakthrough season.

Nebraska finished the regular season with a 26-5 record and tied for second in the Big Ten with a 15-5 mark.

Nebraska's Pryce Sandfort, Braden Frager, Sam Hoiberg and Rienk Mast all earned post- season conference honors.

Nebraska Athletic Communications says the Big Red set or tied school record for total wins, 15 conference wins, and conference road wins on its way to the program’s best-ever finish in the Big Ten.

This after the Huskers were picked 14th in the unofficial pre-season media poll, won their first 20 games as part of a school-record 24-game win streak dating back to last season’s College Basketball Crown, and reached a program record No. 5 AP ranking in January.

Nebraska opens Big Ten Tournament action Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. CDT as the No. 2 seed.
