Omaha Athletics announces Omaha-based "Control Services" has signed a multi-year agreement to become the first-ever uniform patch sponsor for Maverick Hockey.
The sponsorship was developed through Omaha's exclusive multimedia rights holder, Learfield’s "Omaha Sports Properties."
With this announcement, the Mav Athletic Department says Omaha becomes the first known non-Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institution to formalize a uniform patch sponsorship, the first in NCAA men’s ice hockey, and the first within the Division I-AAA subdivision.
Last month, the Division I Cabinet approved a proposal that will allow Division I sports programs to place additional commercial logos or patches on uniforms, equipment, and apparel for any non-NCAA championship competition, including the regular season, effective Aug. 1st of this year.
Omaha is now also the first DI institution in the state of Nebraska to have a uniform patch sponsor.
