(Lincoln, NE) -- The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department says measles has been detected in a local wastewater sample collected from the Theresa Street Water Resource Recovery Facility near North 27th Street and Salt Creek Roadway.

The company conducting the wastewater testing began testing samples in Lincoln for measles in May 2025.

This is the first time measles was detected in any Lincoln sample.

The health department says there have been no cases of measles reported in Lancaster County at this time.
