(Washington, DC) -- China has reached the number of soybeans they promised to purchase as part of a trade truce with the U.S. last year.

The Trump administration says China committed to buying 12-million metric tons of U.S. soybeans before the end of February, and hit that number last week.

A Reuters report says China's percentage of U.S. soybean purchases dropped to 15% in 2024.

China now buys the bulk of their soybeans at cheaper prices in Argentina and Brazil.

The Reuters report cites traders as saying China won't buy any more U.S. soybeans until at least September unless U.S prices drop to South American levels.
