Study: Most of Nebraska's Fatal Crashes Happen on Highways, Not Interstates

(Nebraska) -- A new study finds most fatal crashes in Nebraska happen on highways, not interstates.

Insurance comparison website iSelect examined crash data over the past five years and found that 15 percent of fatal crashes in Nebraska happened on interstates. By comparison, 69 percent of deadly crashes happened on state or U.S. highways during that same time period. 16 percent of fatal crashes were reported on local streets.

The study finds the top 10 deadliest roads in Nebraska are:

  5. US-75
  6. US-275
  7. US-34
  8. US-77
  9. SR-2
  10. SR-92
