Dan McKeon Resigns From Nebraska Legislature

The Nebraska Legislature Tuesday was able to avoid the first ever expulsion of a State Senator as Dan McKeon resigned just before the vote on the Legislative Resolution.

His resignation on the floor of the full unicameral follows Monday's vote by the Legislature's Executive Board to approve the resolution calling for him to be expelled after allegations that he inappropriately touched a legislative staffer.

An investigative report from outside counsel showed a “demonstrated pattern of behavior” including complaints of McKeon using “unprofessional language regarding colleagues and individuals of other races.”

He was originally cited for misdemeanor public indecency by the State Patrol, but that was changed to misdemeanor disturbing the peace.

McKeon has pleaded not guilty and is due in Court January 26th.

The Governor will appoint a replacement.
