UN-L Chancellor Resigns

(Lincoln, NE) -- In an e-mail Monday to faculty, staff, and students, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Rodney Bennett announced his resignation.

It will be effective January 12th.

Bennett's tenure included 27.5 - million dollars in budget cuts on the Lincoln campus, which were approved last month by the NU Board of Regents after a long and tense public hearing.

Before that vote, in November, the UN-L Faculty Senate overwhelmingly supported a vote of "no confidence" for Bennett.

University of Nebraska System President Doctor Jeffrey Gold has announced that retired UN-L Vice-Chancellor Kathy Ankerson will serve as interim Chancellor for the Lincoln campus.
