(Lincoln, NE) -- With the regular season over, the Nebraska football program on Monday parted ways with NU Defensive Coordinator John Butler, effective immediately.

Head Coach Matt Rhule issued a statement thanking Butler and wishing him the best.

The firing comes after Friday's 40-16 "Black Friday" loss to Iowa in Lincoln.

Butler had served one year as Defensive Coordinator.

Rhule says Phil Snow will be the interim coordinator for Nebraska's bowl game.
