A professional soccer stadium is planned for the north downtown area of Omaha.
Union Omaha proposes building the stadium in partnership with the city roughly across Cuming Street from Charles Schwab Field.
The stadium is expected to anchor 20-acres of retail, dining, housing, and green space.
Capacity will be about 85-hundred.
Union Omaha plans to break ground in 2026, with the stadium expected to be completed for the 2028 season.
The cost is estimated at about $114 million, with additional infrastructure costs.
The city is working on a land purchase agreement with Union Pacific Railroad.
Union Omaha says the City Council must approve the land purchase agreement with the railroad.
First reading on that is next Tuesday.
The Council also must approve a resolution permitting the City and Union Omaha to apply for turnback financing from the state.
The Council is scheduled to consider and vote on the turnback at next Tuesday's meeting.
Subsequent approvals by the State and City Council will be needed for financing.
