(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa State Fair generated nearly $630-million dollars in economic impact in 2024.
That's according to a study conducted by Johnson Consulting, which measured the financial impact of the fair and year-round activities at the fairgrounds.
The research shows the events filled over 80,000 hotel rooms, sustained nearly 5,000 jobs and created over $200-million dollars in wages.
The study says the economic impact of the eleven-day Iowa State Fair is comparable to other 2024 events, including the Kentucky Derby, the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in San Antonio and a three-show run of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour in New Orleans.
