The Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Year's Holiday Season special enforcements will be starting up.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will again take part in the nationwide "Make It Click" seatbelt enforcement campaign.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Nebraska Office of Highway Safety have awarded Douglas County the funding to put extra deputies on the streets and highways during the Thanksgiving Holiday for high-visibility seatbelt enforcement.
In a news release, the Sheriff's Office says of the 309 motorists killed nationwide in traffic accidents during the 2023 Thanksgiving holiday; 135, or 44%, were unrestrained.
