(Lincoln, NE) -- A former state senator suspends her campaign for Nebraska State Treasurer after two days.
Julie Slama announced her campaign on Monday about the same time the Governor appointed Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg to be State Treasurer.
Slama says after meeting with Spellerberg, she believes he will bring the energy and perspective needed in the role of State Treasurer, and she is endorsing him for election in 2026.
Until then, Spellerberg will replace Tom Briese, who has stepped down from the post.
