(Iowa City, IA ) -- A man arrested by ICE in Iowa City last month now faces federal fraud charges. Jorge Gonzalez Ochoa, originally from Colombia, was taken into custody on September 25 while working at the Bread Garden Market. The 27-year-old has been charged with fraud, misuse of documents, use of an immigration identification document not lawfully issued, and false representation of a Social Security number.
A hearing was held Monday in Davenport to determine whether he would remain detained while awaiting trial or be released on bond.
The next scheduled hearing in his immigration case is in February. Gonzalez Ochoa is being held in the Muscatine County Jail by U.S. Marshals.
