(LINCOLN, NE) -- Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen says the state has published a contract with the Department of Homeland Security for the use of the Work Ethic Camp in McCook as a federal detention center for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The news release says it’s anticipated the "Cornhusker Clink," managed by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, will be prepared to accept detainees prior to November First, at a base monthly payment of $2.4 million.
Corrections has been making modifications to the facility to accommodate the arrival of initial detainees.
Last week, all remaining state inmates were transferred to other facilities.
The contract period will expire Sept. 29th, 2027.
