(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa's budget revenues are about $200-million dollars short. That's an 8-percent decline according to new Legislative Services Agency numbers.
Republican Governor Kim Reynolds says in a press release they expected the drop and plan to use money from the state's reserves to cover it.
Democratic Governor-candidate, State Auditor Rob Sand says in a statement the drop is worse than expected and would be the first budget deficit for Iowa since 2017.
The Revenue Estimating Conference meets again October 16.
