On Thursday morning, the Omaha Fire Department will observe the 24th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the U.S. with a department-wide tribute.
The public is invited.
At 9:11 AM, firefighters across Omaha will pause for a one-minute moment of silence to honor and remember those who lost their lives in the 2001 attacks.
As part of the observance:
• Fire engines and rescue squads will be positioned on the station aprons with emergency lights on.
• Crews will be in uniform and standing at attention.
• A special 911 communications dispatch announcement will signal the start and end of the moment of silence
• All units will remain in service during the observance.
