HHS Demands IA & NE Remove Gender Ideology From Sex Ed Materials

(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa and Nebraska are at risk of facing significant federal funding cuts over the content of their sex education programs.

According to data provided by The Administration for Children and Families, Iowa could lose more than one-million-two-hundred-thousand dollars and Nebraska is facing a potential seven-hundred-sixty-four-thousand dollars loss.

According to an August 26th press release, the U-S Department of Health and Human Services has demanded both states remove all references to what it calls "gender ideology" from their federally funded materials.

The order affects the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) which provides funding for lessons on preventing teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Federal officials say content that distinguishes between biological sex and gender identity is outside the program's original scope.

Iowa and Nebraska are among forty-six states and territories that received the notice on Tuesday. All have sixty days to comply or face a loss of funding.
