(Des Moines, IA) -- As Iowa school students return to class Monday, a new report suggest that Iowans might find they're spending a smaller percentage of their income on school supplies this year.
The Common Sense Institute of Iowa cites a National Retail Federation report that shows though the cost of school supplies has risen, and parents are buying more supplies than before, their incomes are rising as well.
The Institute says family income growth in Iowa has outpaced the rise in school supply prices over the past three years.
