Latest MidAmerica Business Conditions Report Shows Slowing Midwest Economy

(Midwest) -- The latest MidAmerican Business Conditions Index report shows the overall Midwest economy below growth neutral.

The nine-state report, covering states ranging from Minnesota to Arkansas showed regional job losses for the fourth month in a row. Inflation is also rising in the Midwest, with pressures moving higher at the wholesale level. Overall confidence in the economy fell in July, down to 42.6 from 50.0.

One in six supply managers in the Midwest are predicting economic conditions to improve for their firms over the next six months.
