Sheriff's Sgt. Cleared In Fatal, Omaha Deputy-Involved Shooting

A Douglas County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs investigation finishes its work and clears a Sgt., who was in a fatal, Deputy - involved shooting in May.

The Sheriff says Sergeant Jesse Ronk is exonerated and returned to full duty.

The investigation showed Ronk used deadly force during the encounter with Janidi Ibrahim at 48th and Pratt Streets in Omaha during a weapons investigation.

Investigators say Ibrahim pointed a gun at Ronk a number of times after being told to put the firearm down, leading the law officer to believe he and the public may be in danger.

Investigators found Ronk acted appropriately and in accordance with Douglas County Sheriff's Office policy, and he has been exonerated.
