(Nebraska City, NE) -- An Iowa man accused in connection to the death of a 6-year-old boy in Nebraska City is pleading no contest to motor vehicle homicide.

59-year-old Vernon Christiansen of Percival, Iowa, was arrested last Friday after police say he ran over the boy with his truck near a farmers market the day before. He pled no contest to several other charges, including having an obstructed view while driving and possessing an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Christiansen will be sentenced on September 8th.
